Pupil Premium

The Pupil premium is a government allocated grant specifically targeted for students who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and children who are looked after (CLA) and in the care of the local authority or are children of Forces personnel. There is also an Early Years Pupil Premium for disadvantaged 3 and 4-year-olds.

A pupil is eligible for free school meals if his or her parents receive certain benefits, such as income support or universal credit or support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. “Ever 6” FSM means those pupils who are or have been eligible for FSM any time in the last 6 years. The money has to be used to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and other pupils.

We receive this money in regular instalments and these funds are in addition to the main school budget (the general annual grant). They are to be used primarily to raise the attainment of pupils in these groups but individual amounts are not targeted at individual pupils and it is for the school to decide how the money is spent.
